Vegan Arepas
Arepas - white corn flour, sea salt, avocado oil and water. The batter makes patties, the patties are cooked, opened like pockets or like a traditional burger bun and then filled with whatever ingredients you like. For ecxample, vegan meat, vegan cheese, black beans, sautéed veggies and avocado.

- 2 cups of PAN brand white corn flour
- 2 cups of warm water
- salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of avocado or olive oil
- 1 mixing bowl mix ingredients by hand
- 1 side bowl of water and oil mix
- OUR FIXINGS:
- -plant based meat with taco seasoning hand-rubbed
- -dairy-free mozzarella cheese
- -red onion red bell pepper and mushrooms sauteed in red wine
- -fresh sliced tomatoes
- -fresh sliced avocado
- -fresh sprouts
- -hot sauce
PROCESS:
-warm the water on the stove, not too hot to touch
-add salt and oil to water
-stir by hand while pouring the corn flour into the bowl
-keep hands oiled with side bowl ingredients while mixing
-form arepa batter into billiard sized balls
-cook in arepera or in a cast iron pan for 20 to 25 minutes
-serve when crispy on the outside, soft on the inside
SERVE:
-slice horizontal to create a "burger bun" or "biscuit"
-*alternatively, you can slice vertical to create two "half-pockets"
-butter, stuff and serve with whatever ingredients you like
