Culver City Endorses the Plant Based Treaty as New Anthem “PBT” Gives the Movement Something to Sing—and Rap about.
Culver City, California, January 9th, 2026 — Long known as the “Heart of Screenland” and home to Sony Studios and generations of Hollywood history, Culver City, California has taken a decisive step toward a more sustainable future. In a landmark vote, the Culver City Council passed a motion endorsing the Plant Based Treaty, making it the 58th city worldwide and the fifth city in the United States—joining West Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hoboken, and Boynton Beach—to formally support the global initiative.
The news arrives at a moment when the Plant Based Treaty movement is not only gaining political traction, but cultural momentum as well. Just as Culver City’s endorsement signals leadership from within the heart of the entertainment industry, a newly released music video titled “PBT” is amplifying the message through rhythm, lyrics, and collective voice. Together, the policy win and the creative release underscore a growing truth: the plant-based movement now has both legislative backing and a global anthem.

The Culver City resolution urges the United States to support a Plant Based Treaty, authorizes city staff to provide educational outreach about plant-based diets, and encourages plant-based foods at city-sponsored events and facilities. Supporters say the vote reflects a forward-thinking approach to public health, sustainability, and climate action—values increasingly embraced by cities worldwide.
“The climate crisis is at our doorstep and it’s harming our most vulnerable first and worst,” said Culver City Vice Mayor Bryan “Bubba” Fish. “The Plant Based Treaty is an effective way we can take action right now to make our communities healthy and sustainable.”
That sense of urgency and hope is echoed in “PBT,” a high-energy music video featuring groups of Plant Based Treaty supporters singing and rapping about protecting the planet, defending animals, and reimagining the global food system. The song’s origins trace back to 2024, when Honoré, a Los Angeles–based singer, songwriter, and producer, joined the Plant Based Treaty after being inspired by its mission.
Understanding the impact of animal agriculture—particularly the dairy industry—on climate change, land use, and animal suffering, Honoré decided to contribute in the way he knew best: through music. He created the original Plant Based Treaty jingle, a simple but powerful musical hook designed to spread awareness. After connecting with CF Gainz, the jingle evolved into a full song now titled “PBT,” transforming into what supporters call a new worldwide anthem for plant-based and animal rights awareness.
Importantly, the song is not aimed solely at vegans. Instead, it invites everyone to engage, learn, and consider making more plant-based choices. That inclusive message aligns closely with Culver City’s approach—encouraging education and accessibility rather than mandates.
Samantha Lau, City Campaigner and U.S. Liaison for the Plant Based Treaty, celebrated the endorsement as both symbolic and practical. “We are ecstatic to partner with Culver City to bring public information about healthy sustainable food choices to the community,” Lau said. “It is an honor to partner with Culver City on the day that World Kindness Day was declared because that’s what Plant Based Treaty is all about—spreading kindness through our food system.”

For longtime residents, the vote carries personal significance. Kim Delgado, a Culver City resident and volunteer City Campaigner, called the endorsement a reflection of the city’s values. “Raising my two daughters here, I’m so thankful for the city elected officials aligning with the Plant Based Treaty to bring plant-based food forward in our city,” she said. “Once again, our beautiful city leads the way by being progressive in sustainability.”
Other campaigners emphasized the impact on families and future generations. Rajay Kumar, a Plant Based Treaty volunteer City Campaigner, noted that the endorsement ensures healthier and more environmentally friendly options at city-sponsored events, “fostering a community that is putting the well-being of children first.”
The cultural significance of Culver City’s decision was not lost on advocates. Paige Parsons Roache, another City Campaigner, pointed to the city’s global influence. “Here in Culver City, the Heart of Screenland, you’re setting the pace for surrounding cities to make positive changes for a healthier planet,” she said.
That blend of art, culture, and activism is embodied by Honoré himself. Known for fusing R&B, pop, and Afrobeats—drawing inspiration from Prince and Pharrell Williams—Honoré has toured internationally and earned major placements in music and film. His recent single, “Haven,” was inspired by the devastating Altadena fires, which he and his family experienced firsthand. In the aftermath, Honoré volunteered alongside Plant Based Treaty at the Pasadena Convention Center, helping serve hundreds of plant-based meals to displaced families—turning compassion into direct action.

As Culver City prepares to host events connected to the LA28 Olympics, leaders see the Plant Based Treaty endorsement as aligned with long-term sustainability goals. Juli Schulz, Vice President of Strategy and Programs at the Better Food Foundation, called the decision visionary, noting that it strengthens the global movement while nudging residents toward plant-protein–rich diets.
Since its launch in August 2021, the Plant Based Treaty—modeled on the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty—has gained support from 58 cities, more than a quarter-million individual endorsers, Nobel laureates, IPCC scientists, and thousands of organizations worldwide. With Culver City’s endorsement and the release of “PBT,” the movement is proving it can shape policy—and culture—at the same time.
In the heart of Hollywood, the message is clear: the future is plant-based, and now there’s a beat to go with it.
