A Road Trip Exposing the Dark Side of America’s Food System
The film is co-written, directed, and produced by John Lewis, known as the “Bad Ass Vegan,” together with award-winning filmmaker Keegan Kuhn, co-director of Cowspiracy and What the Health. Lewis travels across the country to reveal how the modern food system profits while communities of color pay the price with their health.
Blending on-the-ground reporting with personal storytelling, the documentary delivers an urgent message: the status quo is not a mistake; it is a design. The result is equal parts exposé, road movie, and call to action.
Celebrity Advocates Add Their Support
Among the film’s executive producers are Grammy-winning artist and outspoken vegan Billie Eilish and NBA All-Star Chris Paul. Eilish underscored the film’s urgency, saying, “I want people to see this film. It is so important to help all of us understand the depth of the issue, and that we must all take action to change the food system.”
Star-Studded Cast of Activists and Experts
They’re Trying to Kill Us features culture-shaping voices and respected physicians, including Mya, Ne-Yo, Maggie Q, NBA Champion John Salley, Styles P, Angela Yee, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Michael Greger, and Dr. Milton Mills. Together, they connect the dots between policy, profit, health outcomes, and the stories of the people most affected.
