Animal Welfare Bills Hit California Legislature! You Can Help Pass Them!

AB 3159’s hearing has been postponed but will be rescheduled. So read up on it!
AB 3159 will require that poultry shackled prior to slaughter are rendered unconscious to ensure that they do not experience unnecessary pain. Other animals have this right, and poultry animals deserve it too. Whether people eat these animals are not, they can all agree they do not need to be tortured prior to their death. By removing the current exemption from humane slaughter practices for poultry, AB 3159 will extend existing humane slaughter rules for livestock to poultry, creating parity throughout the industry and positioning California as a leader in humane slaughter practices nationwide.

Getting legislation passed is by its very nature a political and complicated process. The legislative process requires meeting directly with elected officials to ask them to author, support, and vote on a particular piece of legislation. IRS rules do not allow any funds used directly for “lobbying” to be tax deductible. That is why when you donate to SCIL, our 501(c)(4), your donation is not eligible as a tax deduction. Thank you. We appreciate your ongoing support and donations, and will put them towards our life saving bills! |
