London, England, October 1st, 2026 – The independently run Huge Vegan Survey, which in April 2026 started to collect responses from people identified as vegan or plant-based all over the world, has already reached the impressive figure of 10,000 participants, becoming the record for an exclusively vegan study of this kind. However, it is still active for a few more weeks, aiming to get an even bigger sample.
A Truly Huge Survey

The “Huge Vegan Survey” is a global study about what makes people become and stay vegan, and it was created aiming to be the most in-depth study of adults who identify as vegan, plant-based, or with similar labels. Participants from anywhere in the world who can understand written English can complete the anonymous questionnaire on a computer or smartphone, and it takes as little as 10 minutes.
Unlike many previous surveys run by organizations or companies, this study is being conducted by an independent researcher, the UK-based vegan zoologist and author Jordi Casamitjana, with a strong emphasis on privacy and objectivity. The survey is fully anonymous, does not require registration, and does not collect emails or personal identifying information, a notable departure from many organization-led questionnaires.
Questions are varied, covering detailed demographics, the process of veganization, timing, the initial motivations, dificultes, identities, additional beliefs, etc.
Many organizations have helped

Huge Vegan Survey reaching 8000
The impressive number of respondents so far has been achieved thanks to the help of several vegan organizations, which sent it to their supporters. For instance, The Vegan Society, the Vegan Society of New Zealand, The Vegan Society of Türkiye, the American Vegan Society, Vegane Gesellschaft Österreich, the Vegan Society of Ireland, the Vegan Society of Estonia, APEX Advocacy, Climate Healers, Viva!, Vegan Greens, International Vegan Interior Design Association, V for Life, Vegan Australia, Vegan FTA, National Animal Rights Association (Ireland), Be Vegan (Belgium), The Vegan Organic Network, VegfestUK, Veganuary, the International Animal Rights Conference, Zooteka (Latvia) and, of course, UNCHAINEDTV, among others.
Jordi Casamitjana said, “Before I close the survey, probably in November, I want at least 12,000 participants. The bigger the sample is, the deeper I will be able to go in the analysis of different sub-groups, answering more questions. Also, to be able to analyze the data for a particular country separately, I would need a minimum sample from that country, so please share the survey as widely as possible.”
The survey is still open to adult respondents around the world and can be accessed from this link:
