Watch the Kale Krew enjoy a heavenly vegan feast at Alice and Friends restaurant in the Glenview section of Chicago, a Midwestern city that’s giving LA a run for its money when it comes to gourmet vegan food.
Chicago, Illinois, July 13th, 2024 – On a delightful journey through the vegan culinary landscape, the Kale Krew team, hosted by Nemanja Golubovic and Tamika Price, takes viewers on an enticing adventure to Alice and Friends restaurant in Glenview, Illinois. Known for its delectable plant-based cuisine, Alice and Friends promises a taste of heaven on earth.
A Welcoming Atmosphere
Nemanja and Tamika begin their visit with an enthusiastic welcome from Mun Wong, the owner of Alice and Friends. Mun shares the restaurant’s history, tracing its roots back to its original Chicago location and its evolution from a Loving Hut to the beloved vegan haven it is today.
“We started about eight years ago in Chicago when I became a vegan and there was really nothing that I could enjoy in Chicago,” Mun explains. “So we decided to create something for ourselves.”
Exploring the Menu
The culinary tour kicks off with a demonstration of vegan crab rangoon and char siu bao, each delicately prepared and bursting with flavor. Byron, the kitchen manager, showcases his skills in creating these mouth-watering dishes, emphasizing the meticulous preparation process.
“We have this crab rangoon which is, of course, vegan. It’s really, really good,” says Mun, highlighting the restaurant’s dedication to plant-based perfection.
A Feast for the Senses

The Kale Krew raved about the dishes at Alice and Friends restaurant.
Nemanja and Tamika’s excitement is palpable as they dive into the culinary delights. The duo is particularly impressed with the kung pao cauliflower, a dish that exemplifies the restaurant’s ability to elevate simple vegetables to gourmet status.
“This is the best mac and cheese I’ve ever tried in my life,” Tamika declares, showcasing the restaurant’s ability to create comfort food with a vegan twist.
Sweet Surprises
No meal is complete without dessert, and Alice and Friends does not disappoint. The surprise treats include German apple cake with vanilla (vegan) ice cream and black forest cake, leaving the hosts in awe of the delicious offerings.
“And people say vegans have to sacrifice something. Darling, we don’t have to sacrifice anything. Not a daggone thing, baby,” Tamika asserts, reinforcing the message that vegan cuisine can be indulgent and satisfying.
Kale Krew’s visit to Alice and Friends is a testament to the wonders of vegan dining. From savory dishes to sweet treats, the experience is a delightful reminder that plant-based food can be both delicious and fulfilling. As Nemanja and Tamika conclude their adventure, they invite viewers to join them in this heavenly culinary journey.
