International Anti-Fur March Day Sweeps Cities
International Anti-Fur March Day: #TimesUpFur
From Manhattan to Los Angeles to Portland to the nation’s capital, hundreds of people took to the streets on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 for International Anti-Fur March Day to demand an end to the fur trade.
#FURFREENYC is the campaign to ban retail fur sales across New York City’s five boroughs, which would make the city that never sleeps the city that also never wears fur. Los Angeles banned the sale, manufacture, and trade of most fur products several years ago.
Handling the Holdouts
The Manhattan protest march included a stop at Fendi, where protesters demanded this holdout do what so many other designers and retail stores have done: stop selling fur… period. Full stop! Saks, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus have all publicly announced the end of fur sales, although some have said they will sell their final inventory. Most of the top designers have also given up fur including Michael Kors, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jimmy Choo, John Galliano and… honestly the list of fur-free designers is simply too long to list. Luckily, PETA has the breakdown.
The mass killing of millions of mink in Denmark, because some had developed COVID, destroyed any last gasp of glamour this cruel industry may have had. Global coverage of millions of massacred mink overflowing from garbage dumpsters was just so gross that those martyred animals who infamously rose up from their shallow graves may have put the final nail in the industry’s coffin. As Neiman Marcus Group’s CEO put it, “It is clear the future is fur-free and that includes the ultra-luxury space.” Watch Edita Birnkrant report on the loud and large protest in Manhattan for International Anti-Fur March Day.
PORTLAND, OREGON IS A HUB OF ANTI-FUR FERVOR
Portland has celebrated numerous recent victories in getting local businesses to stop selling fur! Anti-fur activists are urging their famously progressive city to take action and make their city completely #furfree. More than 5,000 Portland residents have signed in favor of introducing a #FurBan in the city. Yet, their city leaders have not taken action. Activists are here to remind them that the protests will not stop until Portland goes #FurFree! Dani Rukin reporting LIVE in Portland for #JaneUnchainedNews.
LOUD PROTESTS AGAINST FUR HIT WASHINGTON, D.C.
Protesters from Animal Activism Mentorship and Total Liberation Washington DC descended on a DC luxury brand, which — according to online ads – still sells some fur, including coyote trim. The protesters chanted loudly and relentlessly with dramatic street theater.
Fendi, Moncler and any other retailer that still sells fur is invited on any time to respond to the protesters.
I would like to see a Fashion Show with fake fur,
There must be many beautiful things, but I don’t see much adds for them.
