The provocative animal rights documentary Viral for the Animals is reaching viewers worldwide on UNCHAINEDTV with new subtitles, helping its message travel even further.

Hollywood, Ca. – October 13th, 2026 – It’s called Viral for the Animals, and now the film is living up to its name.

Viewers worldwide are streaming the provocative animal rights documentary on UNCHAINEDTV, with viewing activity stretching from the United States to Ukraine, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Romania, Serbia, and dozens of other countries.

And, the film’s global journey is getting another boost. Viral for the Animals is now available with subtitles in German, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, French, Polish, Hindi, Chinese, and English, opening the door for even more viewers to experience a film built around one fascinating question: Can the power of going viral be harnessed to help animals?

That question runs through nearly every scene as the documentary follows a group of outspoken vegan activists who have learned how to turn smartphones, social media algorithms and controversy into tools for animal advocacy. Their videos rack up multiple millions of views, shares and comments, taking conversations about animals far beyond the streets where their activism begins.

Now the documentary about going viral is doing some traveling of its own.

VIRAL FOR THE ANIMALS

When Animal Activism Meets the Algorithm

At the center of Viral for the Animals is Dr. Raffaela Raab, known online as The Militant Vegan, whose confrontational style of street and online activism has attracted enormous attention on social media. The film follows Raab and other activists behind the scenes as they create videos, organize demonstrations, make music, cook, collaborate, and figure out how to get an animal rights message in front of as many people as possible.

Their approach can be funny, uncomfortable, provocative, and deliberately difficult to scroll past.

But, beneath the provocative tactics, is a straightforward argument about the animals themselves. As Raab says in the film, “Animals do not want what is being done to them, and that alone should be enough for us to put ourselves in their place.”

The documentary also explores something that has transformed modern activism: the algorithm.

Instead of viewing negative comments, memes, and online backlash solely as obstacles, the activists recognize that engagement can push their content in front of even larger audiences. One activist describes the strategy simply: reaching someone one-on-one is valuable, but reaching thousands at once can multiply the impact.

That creates one of the film’s most interesting questions. If controversy gets people talking, sharing, and watching, can the algorithm itself become a tool for animals?

Do You Want to Go Viral for the Animals?

The film goes well beyond following people who already have large audiences. It shows activists learning from one another about how social media actually works. It inspires others to become social media influencers and speak for animals who cannot.

Viewers watch as they discuss content strategy, TikTok livestreams, profile identities, share counts, and ways to turn a viral moment into sustained attention for animal rights. At one point, the film follows a Polish activist named Karolina as her online presence begins gaining momentum after she refines her message and social strategy.

The numbers climb, the shares multiply, and suddenly an animal rights message that might once have reached a group of people standing on a street is reaching thousands through their phones.

The documentary captures the philosophy behind that strategy as the activists describe repeated exposure to vegan arguments as something that can eventually move a person from expressing ridicule to anger to agreement that results in them changing their behavior.

It’s activism built for the smartphone era.

A Film With a Growing Global Audience

viral for the animals goes viral

That makes the international reach of Viral for the Animals particularly fitting.

UNCHAINEDTV streaming data shows viewers watching from a remarkably wide range of countries, including major audiences across Europe as well as viewers in North and South America, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The addition of subtitles in ten languages gives the documentary another opportunity to cross borders, especially in countries where the film is already attracting viewers.

That international accessibility also fits the story being told on screen. The activists featured in the documentary come from different countries, collaborate across borders and use online platforms that can carry a message around the world in minutes.

The Faces Behind Viral for the Animals

Viral for the Animals was produced, directed and written by viral activist Elena Gerber, with Andrew Alexander serving as associate producer.

The documentary features Raab alongside a group of vegan activists and influencers, including Jamie Logan, David Ramsden, Danny Ishay, Molly Elwood and others. Rather than presenting activism from a distance, Gerber puts viewers directly into the action, including the awkward moments, the arguments, the strategy sessions and the unexpected humor.

Music also plays a significant role in the film. Viral for the Animals features music made available through MobyGratis, created by musician and longtime animal advocate Moby, along with music from composer Lukas Lindner.

Can a Video Help Save an Animal?

Behind the social media strategy is a much bigger goal.

The people featured in Viral for the Animals want viewers to think about animals differently, and they are willing to experiment with unconventional ways of getting that conversation started.

A viral video can travel farther than a street demonstration ever could. A share can put an animal rights message in front of someone the original creator will never meet. A translated documentary can introduce those same questions to viewers thousands of miles away.

That is also what makes streaming platforms such as UNCHAINEDTV an important part of the equation. The free nonprofit vegan streaming network gives animal rights films and programming a dedicated home where viewers can discover them without a subscription, while also making it easy to share that programming with someone else.

For Viral for the Animals, sharing may be the most appropriate call to action of all.

The film is available to stream for free on UNCHAINEDTV, and viewers can also download the free UNCHAINEDTV app on their phones. With subtitles now available in German, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, French, Polish, Hindi, Chinese, and English, the film has more opportunities than ever to find its next viewer.

So watch it. Send it to a friend. Share it with a family member. Pass it along to someone who might never seek out an animal rights documentary on their own.

After all, a film called Viral for the Animals has one clear goal: get people watching, get people talking, and get people sharing for the animals.

Who is that woman? Why is she yelling at people? Why do these kids want to make a selfie with her? How did she get on TV shows? How did she get famous? Why is she viral on social media? She’s all over the internet! Wait, she’s also a pop star? And what does it all have to do with your smartphone and what you are eating? Are you proud? Such a great mother! Yeah, teach your children to hurt animals. Great mother, great! When I became a vegan, I was hit by this immense dystopia. Like the pain of realizing the scale of pain, misery, this holocaust of the animals and that all your friends are contributing to it and that all your loved ones are ignorant lions all of a sudden.

So you’re really hit by this dark, immense pain and everybody’s trying to gaslight you into telling you that you’re the crazy one. You feel alone, you feel left out, you feel helpless. Going up against this massive indoctrination, this terrible industry, this fight against murdering windmills.

And I had no one around me who understood, who didn’t end up mocking me as being aggressive, militant, radical. What do you think of this? Should we treat animals as slaves? Are you vegan? You are vegan? Why are you not vegan? You’re treating animals like racists treat black people. They’re just animals, you know? I first met Rafaela after a friend of mine added me to a chat group where she was asking if someone can film her for her social media content during a protest, which I did because I’m a videographer and afterwards I asked her what led her to this kind of activism.

My mother’s boyfriend at the time actually said the following words. If you have this attitude and view towards animal rights in your life, you will never find friends. You will end up alone.

Imagine this 60-year-old man telling a 24-year-old woman that she, with the attitude that animals are not objects, will never find friends. For a moment, I believed him and it hurt. And the next moment, my brain does something to get away from the pain.

And for me, it was channeling this fury, this desperation into effective activism. Instead of seeing myself as a victim, Oh my God, you’re so right. You know what? I should go back to eating meat.

I will leave you alone. You can do whatever. Into fight mode, I said to myself, You know what? I’m going to fucking prove you wrong.

I’m going to fucking prove you all wrong. I’m not the crazy one here. You’re actively petting the dog while telling me that I shouldn’t respect animal rights? You fucking hypocrite.

I will prove you all so wrong. Have you heard of speciesism yet? You are probably familiar with the concepts of sexism and racism, right? Since we are all against discrimination, we are against someone who would say, Oh, all women have to go into the kitchen. They do not deserve education or the right to vote.

And we are also against the belief that people of other skin colors than ours deserve no rights to vote or to be seen as persons. Like for a long time and still ongoing, racists say people with dark skin colors or Asian people are our slaves. They are worth less than us.

And speciesism is just like racism towards animals. Do you know why we are here? No. Those are behind the scenes of industries that abuse animals, like meat, dairy, eggs, fish.

You don’t want to talk about it? Not being vegan is abusing animals, you know? You know that? Hello, my name is Karolina and I am a vegan from eight years. And I am one of the activists in Anonymous for the Voiceless in Poland. In Poland, it is so important to educate people on the street.

Because we know the lady, she is 70 years old and she didn’t know that a cow is a mammal. And the cow has to be pregnant and have a baby and the baby has to be taken away from her to have milk. So you are on the wrong side, that’s it.

Karolina was struggling in Poland where she tried to improve her impact as an activist so she traveled to the neighbor country where activism was more developed to learn. What is the concept of AV? So the concept of AV is that we slap people in the face with the reality of what they are responsible for. Our mission statement is to create vegan activists who are the most effective at creating vegan activists.

So to achieve that goal, we use an art installation called the Cube of Truth and we take the protocols around managing that as serious as we can possibly do that. And then with regards to the outreach approach, the protocol that we use for that is something that we have engineered over the last ten years and we are always working on improving it. Taking into account that we only have about five minutes with people and so how exactly do we get them to understand the severity and the urgency of this injustice.

That’s our goal. Welcome here in Berlin. I’m happy that so many people are here.

We just counted 44. What unites us is that we are fighting together for a cause and you should always keep that in mind. Animals do not want what is being done to them and that alone should be enough for us to put ourselves in their place and for others to do the same so that we can show that this is an injustice.

I wish you all the best. I’m totally touched and thank you so much for everything that we’re doing together and everyone who’s fighting for animal rights. That’s the best thing to happen to me on my birthday.

I’m from Poland. I’m trying to make activism in Poland bigger. I would love to help you.

We’re trying to build an international online activism community because everyone who starts with activism knew what do I need, what do I do, how do I do marketing. Most of us, we don’t know how the marketing works because we work different jobs. I did TikTok one month ago and I have no idea what I’m doing.

You should have a plan before you start and I would love to help you kick that off. We have to do that professionally and in a way that will reach more people because one-on-one is good but one-on-thousand is bad. I told her that she has to change her profile picture because it sucked all her private images and videos and things with idols like Oli, the extreme vegan she had to take out.

And I told her she had to change her name as well because her name on TikTok was like Karol447. It was a total mess and I was like brush it, brush it, brush it. We have to make a content identity, a value statement.

What I really saw in her was the willingness to be patient to accept that she didn’t yet have the experiences that I had in the last three years but she will get there. You’re not in the video? Yeah, yeah. Boys, boys, I’m asking you.

Yes? Not being vegan is not okay. And first video, 16.8. So it means that in five days we have the most popular shared video. I think that it went viral because I was so clear with my message.

I was so extreme, I was so radical that they were so surprised. I have to take this opportunity and act really fast, work with my brand and do everything as fast as I can with video clip, with photo shoot. The hype is right now so I have to use it.

I can see it, I can see it every day with those messages. I can see that people watch Dominion all the time on my website. I have to act as much as I can to stop it like right here and right now.

Open, okay. I’m enjoying so much. Really, I was so overwhelmed and now I feel like… Oh shit, we got it.

Really? I just had one. Really? Do we have a card? I didn’t close it from the inside. I think this doesn’t work with new doors.

And because of you, it’s Otwursz Oczy. Eat more animals. Eat more animals.

No, Otwursz Oczy is from my song. Otwursz Oczy, go vegan for the animals. And here, being an animal abuser is not cool.

Wait, what song? This film is about activism, right? Right. Well, Rafaela’s been successfully doing vegan music before with her vegan music producer Ruben, whom she introduced to Karolina to produce more international vegan music, if it makes sense. Just watch.

Did you know that most male chicks in the egg industries are killed before they’re one day old? Proning gas chambers or plastic bags they are killed before they ever knew a home. If you oppose this violence then choose to be their friend. If you don’t stand for slavery then put theirs to an end.

You say you are for fairness but it’s cruelty you choose. Please don’t do unto others what you don’t want done to you. And while the locksmith is working let me use this time and introduce you another crazy activist from another country.

At least he should be here. Should I show the mirror? So this is our mirror of change. It says the most dangerous animal in the world.

Of course if the people look into it they’ll realize that they’re the most dangerous animal in the world because humans, especially non-vegan humans cause the most suffering imaginable. And it says you are looking at the most dangerous animal in the world. It alone, of all animals that ever lived can exterminate entire species of animals like it does.

It has achieved the power to wipe out all life on earth. It also has the power to defend animals and you have the choice. Be vegan, not brutal.

I think I first learned about Rafaela through a story. I’m not sure how I saw it. I think it was on Instagram where she talked about how she’s willing to help activists grow on social media and be viral and that’s something I’m interested in so I reached out to her.

What I learned from Rafaela is what sort of content engages people to structure videos to be as viral as possible. But I think my biggest takeaway is that we shouldn’t be afraid to be cringe and awkward sometimes because as long as we speak honestly and passionately and we are ourselves there will be people who will listen to us. So the activists here are preparing our little carpet with the different signs and the different animal torture devices that we can then show to the people.

This is the Elastrator. It’s put on the genitals of the sheep I think mostly to have it basically lose blood and rot off. We have things they put into the ears of the animals of course without any anesthetic.

We have this thing which they put into the nose of the baby cows to prevent them from drinking their mother’s milk because if they go to the breast of the mother they will of course poke it and they won’t be able to drink because it hurts the mother. So this is the object that they put in the mouths of the horses to actually control them better. It must feel really nice to have this piece of metal in your mouth and be the slave of a selfish human being because people make themselves believe that it’s for the benefit of the horse to jump through fire and break their leg which is what happens in these events.

People tend to be quite detached from these processes. You go into the store, you buy the meat, you buy the eggs, you buy the milk and you don’t think about your victims but you do have victims unfortunately because every time you buy these products animals are exploited. There we are showing some footage undercover footage of actually these industries that’s the pork industry the pigs are of course transported to the slaughterhouse and very often they’re sent into carbon dioxide gas chambers they burn from the inside out and that’s the reality of these industries.

What I see in you really is that you’re always saying this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong I completely agree with you but I’m not changing yet. What do you think is more important what you say or what you do? If I say I’m against racism and I own a slave does that matter what I say? And then of course the excuses came there was a bit of plants feel pain as well plants don’t have a brain they don’t have a central nervous system they are not sentient animals eat other animals do you want to be that sort of animal who hurts and eats the other one or do you want to be an animal that does not hurt the other one? Then he wanted to shake hands with me at the end and I asked him well you know if you argued with someone against racism and that person was like well I agree with everything you said but I’m still going to own a slave would you shake hands with that person? Oh yeah and Raffaella just wrote to me actually congrats to 11,000 followers I just had 10,000 very recently and now it’s 11,000 and I’ve been only doing this for half a year it’s the most important to get this message to younger generations who have been indoctrinated into the speciesist attitudes of society who still have that innate empathy in them for animals I have millions of views on TikTok Let us know do you think that most teenagers now know you know about radical veganism? Fortunately and unfortunately at the same time yes How does it feel Christoph? Well good I guess it does feel good that people talk about veganism but of course it doesn’t feel amazing that so many people hate you and hate who you are it can be uncomfortable but it’s just part of the process as we know so Dealing with hate is one aspect of activism but there is another one which can be quite frustrating which is fame People want to be close to the star and when I met Raffaella for the first time and she’s like a hero and I know that she’s famous and she’s a star but I saw that people try to just you know be in their light Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you And I think that it’s hard for her to know who is her real friend So this is Dilara now Hello Now check Your hair will be like this Like curly, yeah Like a wig Like a wig Now I look like Samara I think that’s perfect I like the, this is like very 2000ish Beautiful We will have a scene where you put all your things off and then you go like vegan Good morning We are at the video shoot of my new music video Dilara Say loud for the animals Why are you forcing your lifestyle onto others? Why are you forcing your lifestyle onto others? No, we’re going to do what we want, okay? We don’t want to talk to you No Let’s go to McDonald’s KFC So this is the The Chad character He went away because he was mad at his ex-girlfriend Dilara who became a fresh vegan and he lost her trust because he’s so ignorant towards the vegan topic and I’ve actually seen that happen when we do activism that a couple comes up to us and we talk to them and one of them realises that we’re right and the other one is completely against it and for the character that we portrayed with him the very macho, cool guy who doesn’t want to seem like he made a mistake who hates on the soft, vegan soy boys I think it’s very difficult for him to reflect on himself because he never had to It was always cool and convenient for him to run with the mass and he got those opportunistic points from his friends for making fun of vegans and to win Dilara back So now we’re taking the next step of the video producing We’re going to an apartment where Dilara will think it over on her own after she leaves Chad to have a think about what she saw what we told her I don’t know Are you crying? Actual tears? I’m sorry No, it’s ok It’s not ok But it’s ok Do you want a hug? No, it’s fine I can’t play this This is it Can I get black screen over here? Black screen? No, no, no Maybe it’s good to record it It’s good to record it but I’m so sorry No, no, no, it’s ok Do you want a hug? So let the animals live Leave them alone Dilara, please be vegan Please be a nerd Oh, I already learned It’s a wrap It’s a wrap You probably noticed that sporty guy who is frequently in frame when I film Raffaella so I think it’s time to meet Tobi My style of activism is to combine fitness and justice in my outreach What I learned from Raffaella’s online activism is you have to find your own niche On the street I often hear men need to eat steak but as you can see you don’t need steak you need protein Yeah, we need protein but not from dead animals and that is also plants People have this biased image in their head about slim, unhealthy grey little vegans but I’m the living proof that you can be strong and healthy without animal exploitation My activism slogan is not being vegan is weak Yeah, not being vegan is weak So yummy Being strong means to protect and not to oppress the weaker ones We often hear to be vegan is so hard Okay, after nearly 10 years in animal rights activism I can say that it’s very important to give people some tips and guides with them when they declare to become vegan because in most cases they are left alone so they don’t really know how to do this next step How to start a vegan life Join the movement That’s why we made our vegan protein guide and nutrition guide and there is an easy explanation how to be vegan from now on where do you get your proteins where do you get your nutrition where do you get your minerals and it’s so easy today I started the Mild Vegan because I saw that there were two little vegan recipe pages with actually easy and vegan cooking resources with the ethical message which is why I embed animal rights imagery slaughterhouse videos also in my cooking videos I’m packing school lunches in my videos sometimes and simply the act of putting raw tofu on bread and combining it with a radical vegan message that animals aren’t objects that already triggers people so hard to start a vegan life exponential sharing the cringe is so big for the revolution we have 2000 so we’re currently making a paper for her in the live stream that she has taped to her chest because when you do a live stream on tiktok the people scroll through and they will first of all be on her live stream anyways because right now she posted a video and I think it’s a good video because it pushes the algorithm and the engagement immensely and you can answer questions from the community and just expand your reach and the message for animals immensely Very good. I’m so proud of you.

I know how exhausted that is. Take a screenshot of that and put it in your Instagram story. So people see your reach and the haters see your reach and the other vegan activists see your reach.

447 times her video has already been shared now. So she’s in the top 001% of all creators on TikTok during that live stream. Yeah.

So I’ve been doing my workshop to help improve the effectiveness for some activists online since I had my first viral hit. And I’ve been trying to pass that on and to tell other activists to use their cringe, as I always say, to build their own… I don’t like the word brand, but it is nothing else than a marketing game. And the idea that we want to sell is veganism.

Hello. Oh, a cow is sitting on the balcony. Can I put the shoes? Should I leave them on? Hello.

It’s so nice to meet you in person. I’m not much of a hugger, but this is an occasion for a hug. Yes, it is.

Oh, you’re taller than I thought. Wow. You’re exactly the height I thought.

I’ll take that as a compliment and not anything else. This is for you. But that’s Tofunia.

It’s Tofunia. Beautiful. That’s like me saying Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior.

Do you agree? No, of course. Tofunia is the Lord and Savior. My God is Tofunia.

My God does not exist. My God does exist. My God says sending humans to slaughterhouses is okay, so I’m going to send humans to slaughterhouses.

I have literal proof right now. My goddess wrote in the book, the only holy book, that we’re allowed to send humans to slaughter. So this is your book? Yeah, this is the only holy book.

This is the holy book? This is the holy book, and it says sending humans to slaughter is okay. So I believe in Tofunia. So you want to believe as well? Well, I’m going to ask you if my faith is okay and enough reason to send someone to slaughter.

Is it? What? Is my faith a good reason to send humans to slaughter and to do violence? You tell her. No, I’m just trying to demonstrate to you that a faith alone is not a good justification for violence and murder. If I believe in a God that allows violence towards humans, you would say that’s ridiculous and it’s not a good reason for murder.

If you believe in a God that allows violence towards animals, it’s not a good justification for murder. Animals can suffer. Can we agree upon that? What? They can suffer? Can animals suffer? Yeah, they can suffer.

Okay, so are you for abusing their bodies and making them suffer? All I’m saying is that Jesus Christ is the Lord. Okay, Tofunia is the Lord and Savior. She is the truth.

The book is the only holy book. Faith is not a justification for murder, but you really cannot talk logic with religious dogmatics. I love the block of tofu.

Wow, I love it. Thank you so much. I will definitely use and abuse her.

Go not vegan. Slaughter humans. Eat their flesh.

They’re delicious and it’s okay because the book says so. Of course. And our book is the holiest book.

Obviously. Is that your official merch now already? Of course. Look at this.

I want to see and value. Turn around. It’s empty.

Nothing on the back. Why not? Because it was already so expensive. No, that’s wasted advert space.

When activists pay for stuff, they actually want to be walking billboards. But there’s something that could actually fix this. I doubt people would buy it.

And that is this. And you could iron it to the back. You can put it on anything that’s not stretchy material.

But even on stretchy material, I just super glue the shit out of it and it works. How well it is printed, that comes second. The first thing is the identity, just being part of the identity group.

Yeah, I know. It has it on the side. People want to pay €5 additionally for this.

They want this. They asked us to put it in the shop bag. Yeah, I know.

Enfauzino means in German, not being vegan is not okay. Our brand is not just a brand. Our brand is a movement where you can find complete activism stuff.

Stickers, t-shirts, banners, signs. And you can also make your smartphone into an activism sign. It’s easier for people just to join a movement where everything is ready instead of developing everything by your own.

Our focus is to bring our message, not being vegan is not okay, into the mainstream of German society. When you take a look into the internet of vegan outreach, since we started with our brand, more and more people wear our merch and you see them all over the internet. So, I’m sorry, because I can see those looks.

And this is like first time like that for me in the big city and I really thought that people won’t recognize me actually. Ah, sorry. It’s for the voices.

Bravo. That’s Paula. Okay, so, you have a fan in Poland.

His name is Albert and in his school, he’s like 14 years old or something like that. He said that when they have their free lesson, like all classmates were talking about veganism because of my videos. Yes.

And it was like amazing. I thought at the beginning we need money to put education in the system, but we just need TikTok. Yes, exactly.

I mean, we still need money for the cooking, but I meant like I thought we had to pay like teachers and their education. But at the end of the day, what do they talk about? The viral hits. So, congratulations for that.

Hello, Albert. This is Rafaela and… The vegan Carolina. We are so proud of you for standing up for the animals.

So, please stay strong. You’re on the right side of history. You’re protecting the weak ones and that’s really what being grown up and being responsible makes out.

And if you need any help, let us know and we’re super proud of you. Yeah. And I had like a lot of messages saying, Thank you.

I watched Dominion with my mom. And now we are vegan. The whole family is vegan now.

Yes. That’s like the best. The whole family.

Yes. Exactly. This is how the revolution started right now.

Because I was talking with people and then they gonna speak with other people. And you know, it’s like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, like a Dominion. Domino.

Yeah. Not Dominion. Dominion.

Dominion. Yes, Dominion. Dominion.

Film Dominion. This is a gas pig. Maybe CO2.

Where are we going now? To Washington! We’re now gonna veganise the White House and the president. Shut down or what the f*** Only monsters must be dead, should they set them free! Yes, only monsters must be dead! Fear, because you continue to torture animals and sell their diseased livers for foie gras! Animal abuse is wrong! Foie gras should be dead! Go to hell! Shame on you! For foie gras, geese have a metal rod injected through their beaks, through their throats, down all the way into their stomach, and it’s really one of the most gruesome industries. These animals are force-fed all their lives simply to fatten up their liver for something that we do not need and we have vegan versions of.

It’s just torture. Instead of supporting this cruel bullshit, you can simply follow my recipe. Simply mix together a block of tofu, some kidney beans, a dash of soy sauce, garlic and paprika powder, some sun-dried tomatoes, and there you go.

Okay. Great. One, two, three! Fuck dairy! We don’t eat, we don’t eat animals We don’t eat, we don’t eat animals We don’t, we don’t eat animals No, no.

No, no. No, no. No, no, no, no, no, no! This is a chicken that I rescued in Oklahoma.

Her name is Simi, and she’s living her best life at a sanctuary. You guys have no idea how awesome it is to have a carnivore boyfriend! Right, babe? Get in there. You are just the best.

Dude, he hasn’t pooped in two weeks. All the guy wants to do is talk about eating dead bodies. He smells like death, and the man hasn’t touched me in two years.

And tonight we’re just gonna have the most amazing time together, aren’t we, babe? Oh, babe, I’m a little bit tired, you know, so I just have to sleep. Oh, I love you so much. So I really wasn’t too sure what to expect when I had my first video ready to post because I was nervous.

I was like, there’s humor in this, but it’s not a funny subject. I don’t want people to think I’m insensitive, but at the same time, how do we get people to listen to this message? So I kind of just took a leap and posted it. And I was overwhelmingly surprised with the response.

In just a few months, my content started going viral. I went from 10,000 views to millions of views. Some of my content, especially on Instagram, has upwards of 5, 6 million views on certain videos.

And what’s great about it is I managed to sneak in some of the footage from slaughterhouses, and I managed to sneak in that messaging. Really great news. They emailed us the next day.

They’ve already taken Foie Gras off of their menu, and we’re looking for a time to sit down and speak with them either on a call or face-to-face to get them to announce a permanent Foie Gras-free policy. We’re going to start with asking for their parent company, so it would be any hotel that they own. This is incredible.

You are amazing, guys. It’s so fast. It is happening.

It is happening. I think they’re like the outreacher. Or maybe, you are an animal abuser.

You can’t do like this. You have those elements. But when you are in your pyjama, they think, no, no, no, it’s too much for the veganism.

The veganism, it should be painful, sad, not funny at all. Serious, talking, professional. Mia, what do you think about the new microphone? Woof, woof, woof, it’s so professional.

We can’t dance about it, because we are so miserable, and we have to show that this is so miserable. Of course it is, of course it is, but people don’t want to watch miserable stuff. So the challenge is to do something to get them to watch this stuff.

Yes! To hook them in this stuff. I remember waking up one day with this very concrete idea about a video about the fur industry, but I wasn’t sure if it was not too graphic and brave for TikTok, so it could be banned. So I told it to Karolina, and before I could finish the sentence, she immediately said yes.

It was very risky. I guess not. What? It was too much.

I haven’t seen it. His head was like really here. Ok, got it.

So first it’s more down and more in front. And then… Oh no! Only 32.6 shares. It was a suicide.

It’s the most shared video already, guys. Also it pushed Instagram as well. And pushed all accounts.

So Polish society is very conservative, and when they saw just my naked belly, for them it was like, Oh my God, she’s a bitch, she’s a whore. But a lot of women started to protect me, that I can use my body, so maybe they can start to discuss about it. They’re talking about banning this fur industry in Poland.

So this is the best timing to make this video, like really. Hello, guys! It’s today a beautiful day for reading so beautiful comments on our video. Oh my God, and what a beautiful comment from vegan society, I would say.

Why are you smiling? Is this a pro-meat video? So, what we should write? What do you think? No, because this is a stupid comment. Yes, pro-meat video. Yeah.

So what do you think? Why are they reacting like that? To be honest, I don’t know. Because they are jealous. But for what? For your body.

No. You don’t believe people can be jealous? I believe, but I, you know, sometimes I idolize vegan activists so much that… But they’re still humans, and they have the same emotional spectrum like any other humans, and it’s just a normal human behavior, I think, to be jealous. That doesn’t change if you’re a vegan.

Maybe it’s also because of the braveness, maybe, because maybe they want to do something as well and use their body like this, but they’re not brave enough. They have maybe self-struggles with their bodies. I think all of those factors, like, conclude them to this self-struggle, and that’s why I hate it.

I want to start a conversation that with your body you can do whatever you want. Like, really. You can be… You know what I mean.

Yes, this is your body. You want to have a tattoo, with, of course, a vegan tattoo? You can have it. You can have, I don’t know, red hair.

You can have it. This is your body. But what happened? What happened? The sun went viral! It’s endless.

Oh, she thinks that when she’s gonna be naked people can be vegan. Like, yeah, this is like slut-shaming and body-shaming that I show the body like. Only one video is good, so, like, people, what are you talking about? She just showed her body.

Only one. She’s mental. She should be on PornHube.

I understand everything, but being naked for animals to do more views, this is, like, disgusting and too much. I knew it. I knew it.

And I chose it. But I know why I chose this. I know.

I know. I know why I sacrificed this. I know.

And because of that we are going viral every single time if we do something very awesome. And because of it, I don’t know, probably it wouldn’t be possible. It’s not way back.

Like I said, it’s just really… I just feel… I know that I have you guys, but I feel, like, really alone. I don’t know. It took some time for me to learn that to be effective long-term we cannot ignore our own mental health.

And before we can use our empathy for others to speak up for others, we must have empathy for ourselves. I think a lot of activists tend to frame themselves as both victims and heroes in the situation. We are victims of this horrible world that we kind of feel the need to speak up against, this system of abuse.

And we frame ourselves as heroes who sacrifice everything for this cause. But the reality isn’t a comic book. This is our choice that we’re making and the real victims are the animals.

And if we are seriously thinking of fighting for liberation, we must liberate ourselves to an extent where we are able to focus long-term on liberating others. And that’s not possible without finding a balance between obviously pushing your boundaries, stepping out of your comfort zone, but also knowing your limits. I lasted a long time doing this.

You might not be able to last as long as I did or forever. It’s going to be tough not to burn out. Even the kid burnt out.

I wish I was better at offering advice about how to reduce stress because it’s important that you reduce stress. It can harm your body. I’ve only slept basically two hours, maybe up to four hours a night for the last 25 years.

Try to figure out how to get better rest than I did. Good afternoon, everybody. My name is Gary Yourofsky.

Today we’re going to talk about the world’s forgotten victims, animals, and the world’s oldest and strongest addiction, meat. There was a student at Georgia Tech. His name was Nathan Black.

He had heard me speak at Georgia Tech a year before. He became vegan. He asked me if I wanted my speech to be recorded and put online.

I was just focused on those 25 students, those 50 students, or that day at Georgia Tech, those 150 students, and I was going to reach as many people as I could during one lecture. By 2011, we realized we struck gold with something. It just took off, and it went worldwide, what the kids call viral.

Basically, my speech was a militant comedy roast. It would push people to the edge, to the limit, as I talked about slavery and raping the female animals and then stealing their babies and cutting their heads off and ripping their bodies to pieces and tormenting them and mutilating them. I’d have them on the back of their seats like, no more, please no more, and then I would make some truthful, sarcastic comments like, what is it with you and bird asses? You guys have a bird ass fetish.

You want to eat things that come out of a hen’s ass, eggs, and then on Thanksgiving, you want to shove breading into a turkey’s ass. I don’t understand this. Does anybody know what an egg actually is from a hen? And don’t say embryo or avoided fetus, not even close.

It’s unfertilized, so it can’t be either. Hen is a female, though. Unfertilized egg through a female system.

It’s part of her menstruation cycle. It’s a hen’s period. People scramble up hen periods in the morning, and all of a sudden, I’m weird, because I don’t make omelets anymore.

And what about vomit? Oh, we’re going to take those blinders off today. Come on, you guys love vomit. You adore it all over your food.

Better give this one a pretty name, huh? No one’s going to buy and eat vomit. Let’s call it honey instead. Honey comes directly from a bee’s stomach.

It is regurgitated right through a bee’s mouth. Look it up with any wildlife biologist. But nobody wants to eat bee-vomit-nut Cheerios.

Who wants honey-nut Cheerios? So pride yourselves and play euphemism games. The standard diet of a meat-eater is blood, flesh, veins, muscles, tendons, cow secretions, hen periods, and bee vomit? Gary held 2,660 speeches for more than a decade and veganized countless people around the globe. But will the world be vegan during your lifetime, Gary? 29 years into veganism, I wish I had a better answer for everybody.

I do see one scenario maybe ending the injustice, but it’s not going to be for the right reasons. But I don’t think the cows and the pigs, the chickens, the turkeys, and the fish care why they are no longer tortured, exploited, and abused and killed. There’s something that people have probably heard about.

It’s the cell meat industry, growing meat in a laboratory, taking a biopsy, some cells from an animal, growing those cells. They’re just growing the flesh. There’s no head, there’s no brain, there’s no central nervous system.

And if anybody thinks, oh, it’s frankenmeat, I got news for you. You’re eating frankenmeat. When I was a kid, turkeys weighed 10 to 14 pounds.

If you go to get a turkey now for Thanksgiving, they weigh about 18 to 27 pounds. That’s frankenmeat. They’ve been genetically engineered.

Every single animal, every single piece of meat that people eat these days has been genetically modified. Chickens grow to full weight, by the way, in six weeks. Pigs grow to full weight nowadays in six months.

This is unnatural behavior. They’re doing it for money. Right now, the meat industry has to pay a farmer to grow corn, wheat, oats, and soy in a field.

They’ve got to pay the farmer to buy a machine to cut down all these crops. Then they’ve got to get the crops over to the animals at a different location. They’ve got to feed these animals.

Then, once they’re done feeding these animals and fattening them up, somebody has to go get those animals and put them on a truck. Well, somebody had to pay for the slaughterhouse truck as well. They’ve got to pay for gasoline and oil for the slaughterhouse truck.

They’ve got to pay the driver to drive the truck with the animals to the actual slaughterhouse. Then you’ve got to pay all the slaughterhouse workers. You’ve got to build a slaughterhouse factory.

You’ve got to hang the animals up. You’ve got to slice them up into pieces. Then you’ve got to take those pieces, take them to a processing plant and cut them up into more pieces.

You’ve got to package them up. And then you’ve got to get them to the trucks and get them to the grocery stores and the restaurants. Once these stubborn people realize that all you have to do from now on is have one big building and in one side of the building you grow the meat.

You move it over to this side of the building. You chop it up into pieces and wrap it up. And you put it right on the truck.

The trucks are waiting outside. Send them to the grocery stores. They’re going to realize all the money they’re going to save by doing this.

And I think that’s probably the future. I don’t know how we’re going to reach and teach billions of people to become ethical. But cell meat has the chance and has the capability of achieving liberation for the animals.

And if that’s how it has to happen to end the injustice, I’ll take it. And I’m quite sure the animals will take it too. So nowadays a lot of people are afraid of food innovation.

If you really think about it, a lot of foods that we are eating today and we are used to, they were new and novel at their own time. A good example of biotechnology is actually cheese. Every food that you are used to eating, whether it’s hamburgers or hot dogs or whatever it is, they were all developed using biotechnology techniques a long time ago.

What about protein though? Oh my God, are you okay? Are you okay? Oh, sorry. After 14 years of being vegan, sometimes protein deficiency hits. Okay.

Seriously, what about B12 though? I get B12. What about B13? That doesn’t exist. What about B17? That’s a World War II bomber.

Well, what about my rare disease that prevents me from going vegan? What rare disease do you have? I can’t tell you that. There is no rare disease that prevents you from not exploiting animals. What about our ancestors? Listen, you are not a caveman.

This is not a stone age. I’m Dr. Faraz Harsini. I’m a biomedical and food system scientist and I’m also the executive director of Allied Scholars for Animal Protection, which is a non-profit in the US with chapters in tens of top universities and we promote plant-based diet and veganism in universities to train the next generation of thought leaders.

I also work at another non-profit called Good Food Institute where I’m a senior scientist and I focus on alternative proteins to basically make alternative proteins cheaper, taste better, more nutritious and available to more people so they can go vegan faster. The best foods to eat are naturally always out there. Beans, legumes, rice, nuts and seeds, fruits and vegetables and lots of whole grains.

If you really want to be eating healthy, that’s what we should be eating. But if you really want to have some burger, then food technology allows us to produce these amazing and really tasty foods. Unfortunately in the medical system, doctors are not really trained on nutrition so they might learn what happens if you have certain vitamin deficiency and that would lead to this disease and how to prevent it potentially.

But they don’t really learn about preventive medicine. When doctors are not following a plant-based diet themselves, they’re much less likely to actually recommend that. We actually have data that shows doctors who drink are less likely to ask their patients not to drink and doctors who are overweight are less likely to recommend their patients to actually exercise.

With the same rationale, you can just already see that the doctor who’s eating meat, eggs and dairy would not recommend not doing that to a patient because it’s simple psychology. It just makes you a hypocrite if you do that and most people don’t want to be in that situation. Every cardiologist would tell you that oh, you need to lower your LDL cholesterol or saturated fat perhaps.

They might give you medications to lower your LDL cholesterol but they never tell you where does that cholesterol come from. They just don’t learn about it. And another problem is that maybe in medical textbooks you would read that oh, okay, so if you want a good source of protein or iron these are the foods that you should be eating.

For instance, meat has a lot of protein and that is actually true. So the doctor reads that and memorizes that and suddenly you say that you’re vegan and they’re like oh, I read that you need to have a lot of meat but it’s missing the big picture. Also, it has a lot of saturated fat.

Literally every cancer institute in the world says that the less meat you eat, the better. I’m a food system scientist so part of my job is to look at the global impact of food. A food system that is based on animal consumption also leads to other problems such as climate change such as pandemics.

And where does bird flu come from? Which birds? Is it penguins? It’s chickens. So as long as we consume eggs and chicken we’re going to have bird flu. As long as we’re relying on cows and pigs we’re going to have these zoonotic diseases.

It’s guaranteed. And it’s only a matter of time that one of them becomes extremely deadly and would kill millions of people as it has happened in the history of humanity. It’s very clear to me that the most sustainable diet for the planet the most compassionate diet that doesn’t cause gassing pigs to death or mutilating animals or killing male chickens and calves the best diet when you consider all those factors would be a plant-based diet or following a vegan lifestyle.

We shouldn’t have to wait for things to change if we can be part of the change. And even if there were only chickpeas and lentils and tofu I would make delicious meals and even if it tastes like ass that is not justification to eat you. If you’re the only delicious thing on this planet, right? Then we can also not eat ass of a cow if she’s delicious.

We don’t choose to be delicious. Maybe gradually consider this. Do we value people on their thoughts and their considerations or on their actions? On their actions, of course.

But I don’t care. You don’t care that you’re a violent hypocrite an animal enslaver? Before you decide to continue with violence and slavery and oppression you should have a very good reason for that. And you don’t seem to have one.

Why are you crying? What happened? I just… I just never thought that they would organize something like this. I didn’t have any help in this so I started to do it. But they couldn’t understand and they said that the guy is fine that he’s a vegan and he wants to help and I gave him the administrator and I just trusted him.

Really, I had 500 young vegans on my Discord and I don’t have any help with websites and stuff and I’m trying to do everything by myself. Acting, singing, scriptwriting, songwriting everything. Cutting, editing, Discord, website everything.

Every single day 14 hours, 16 hours, 18 hours sometimes we sleep for 5 hours, guys. And because of that someone, because we don’t have we don’t have money for that for help someone someone just hacked our Discord with vegans who were friends who supported each other friends who were becoming vegans on this Discord. For a few weeks they pretended that they are vegans that they wanna help that they wanna support the vegan community and now everything is gone.

I don’t know if we can repair it or not. I don’t know because I am not fucking internet guy IT guy I have no idea but I’m trying to do everything by myself. This is not true! You have Eleanor, you have a boyfriend! I mean you, you guys! Is that not enough? You’re making me feel not enough.

No, it’s not that. I only have you! I only have you! That you believe in me. Who? Who? You don’t even need a single person having three people having a room filled with people who believe in you and having the audacity to say nobody believes in me is just unjust towards us.

No, it’s not because you are my only friends. Is that not enough? Having more than one friend in this terrible but it still it hurts me it hurts me, Kao it really does. You believe in me because you believe in me.

That’s taking me for granted, you know? It is you believe in me just because you believe in me you were born that way no, fuck it I give a fuck about you I do I really do and you’re saying yeah, it’s just because it’s your default setting. No, I didn’t say that. But that’s how you’re making me feel it is you will not get to the point where you only have lovers.

I’m sorry like right now it’s like all life changed like totally like I can’t come back there it’s like too dangerous like sorry I’m like really You don’t have to say sorry but you just we are here for you and I don’t know how much how much more we can we stick around we help you through everything and I don’t believe in people either when I see slaughterhouse footage how does that even work how do people say it’s yummy but we can’t stand there and cry about it because there’s always good people and you can’t give up on them and we are proof of that right? we are proof of that I believe so much in you that you have to go and do your live stream now scream at some children but saying you’re saying you’re just a meme that’s not true to every single kid who drew you imagine they saw and you said ah everybody knows I’m a meme they would be heartbroken because you don’t believe in them you don’t believe that their words are true but I do they see something in you a lot of people see something in you obviously and you do too if you’re very honest you are the star you know that you just have phases up and down but we believe in you Kaho what’s the alternative? no alternative anymore no, no no do you like traditional festivals? Krzysztof asked me if I want to see one and we packed our cameras and went to Hungary Elena, how are you? Ok, the other Elena who’s our great activist is coming Elena Hello Elena Hi Hi Elena I went there to to speak about the event with the policemen and the village mayor and they gave me a little pig plushie about the event and they gave it to me so happily as oh, we’re happy to to guest you I’m not sure they understood why you’re there but you sent us the picture and it was this extremely cute pig plushie with like a little dress on it yes, it had a and then you sent us the actual like picture of the little coin that’s on it and it said like pig slaughter festival so that’s the yeah, that’s the hypocrisy of the people or I don’t even know if you can call it hypocrisy at this point it’s disconnection I think yeah, disconnection so yeah the plan for tomorrow so we’ll wake up very early at like 2.30 we’ll probably arrive at around 5 because the police saved a parking space for us but we can’t park there because that would be suspicious why are we there so early we’ll split into two teams and they are killing the pigs until 9 so we’ll have plenty of stuff to film it would be useful to know if they kill the pigs at the same time it would be better for us so if we could film all the pigs being killed well if it’s three hours then I think it’s probably not at the same time because it’s a competition so probably people want to see all the different types of pigs yes and it’s just this lovely and innocent family event where people take their children and the vegans are the ones who are indoctrinating the children remember that and the most important thing of course will be safety especially during the demonstration people are going to be very aggressive with us so yeah let’s look out for each other how are you? not well I feel nauseous and sick we watched well not all of them but most of them died so yeah of course the animal slaughter and torture is quite disturbing but really the thing that motivated mostly to leave was that I just can’t listen to the people anymore because they keep making jokes about drinking and about the suffering of the pig one pig got away and I filmed how people grabbed them and pulled back he fought for his life for her life the pigs has no chance that’s what we can do just film what’s happening and show it to people and hoping that people will change when they see it yeah we wrote down a few things that the people said one of the women said I’m standing in the opposite direction because I don’t like watching this slaughter one of the younger women said he wants to live one of the pigs was apparently killed but when they started drawing the blood the pig was still screaming and then one of the people said well I don’t think he really died that happens often that the stunning doesn’t work yeah there was one group that intentionally did not use any stunning method because they wanted to do it in the traditional truly manly Hungarian way which is just torturing the animal to death yeah and then they take the animals over to the back and burn them we’ve been to many big killing festivals like this since then I feel like I get I got used to it I desensitized a bit but every time when it’s over there is this emptiness and this this very sad feeling from what I heard originally the alcohol was really for kind of feel less bad about doing this and be more open and be able to sort of have fun while doing something that deep down they know is horrible now probably small part of it is still this but mostly it’s just part of the tradition and people love to get drunk we think that about traditions yeah we didn’t get the best place the police always wants to put us far away but we’ll be loud and hopefully people will keep walking towards the event and then we can talk to them we have some signs as well this one so this is Steffi he was a pig who was murdered at one of these festivals and he was still alive he was alive for a really long time he was locked in this small cage he really looked like a puppy with his eyes in that cage and then the people were actually the people who were there were saying maybe we shouldn’t kill him because he’s too cute and then they dragged him out and killed him but he was still alive while they were cutting him up and you can see he’s still alive here when he was already put on the wooden board that they transport them on and the guy you know because they respect animals and it’s a lovely animal friendly tradition just stepped on his face with his boot out of respect of course and this was one of the worst things we saw at one of these events I think this picture completely summarizes everything that people need to know about this issue the insane irrationality and evil of human supremacy and the innocence of the victims and their helplessness and we’re here to speak up for them and do what we can mostly through social media so let’s go ok so as you can hear those guys are screaming at us he’s saying that we’re the ones who should be murdered so I guess he sees that there is no morally relevant difference between non-human and human animals because he thinks that everyone should be murdered at least the people he doesn’t agree with and they just keep screaming at us and saying disgusting sexual stuff and of course they are also screaming that we eat grass on the fields probably they’ve never heard of potatoes beans lentils chickpeas onions all sorts of vegetables fruits they only eat pig obviously most of these people came to interview us probably from a local TV channel he was again interested in where we get our money from I said we get it from individuals who want to donate to this cause and he was asking about how sustainable it is he said it’s not sustainable for humanity to not eat meat to which of course I told him that we’re able to feed 90 billion land animals with partly human edible plant foods but we’re not able to feed 8 billion humans which is quite interesting in terms of sustainability they are of course cowards to come over and have an actual conversation because then of course there’s a chance that we will be able to you know have a rational proper debate which they have no idea how to do one of them was asking the policeman how much of a punishment he would get from the police if he came over and hurt one of us ok if everyone if you still have the energy please give a summary of today we survived unfortunately the pigs didn’t we met some very stupid people but also some nice people who agreed with us and who were with the animals the biggest thing is that we were there which is always the most important to be there if there’s injustice be there and at least show the people that are there that there is a different opinion and this is not normal and there are people who think that this should change I think our main goal as activists should be to create a new norm make veganism the new norm and the way norms are created is someone comes up with something and then starts repeating it and then more and more people start repeating it and then it becomes a norm and if you’re not part of that norm then you’re cast out and I think if we get veganism out there and get everyone to talk about it and say it again and again and again which the easiest way to do that is through tiktok right now then we have a chance of making it the new norm before humanity completely destroys itself I think if we just put people on the streets I think humanity will destroy itself before we get anything to change Hello How are you? Christoph, do you want to say something? Be vegan, not brutal don’t be an animal abuser that’s the basic message We have a roll it’s about to check that the signs are in alignment that all are at the same height and stuff like that in the outreach Outreach? Is there any person who can imagine making a live speech today? Nice Amazing Are you an oppressor? Do you support slavery murder abuse exploitation Do you think that’s fine? If not and you would not like to do that to a human then why do it to other sentient creatures who feel just like us animals have been victimized to such an extent that in the mind of most humans they are equal to nothing a non-vegan world is a world of slavery exploitation abuse rape murder torture terror NEON stands for no exploitation of non-humans I started to design these signs having in mind the entirety of the issue I wanted people to see it when they have one single view and they have a look at all these signs and they see that it’s not just about the cows the chickens the pigs it’s about every single individual who is not human who is oppressed by us who is used as a resource who has no rights and NEON was my way of tackling that If you don’t want to be a terrorist then be vegan otherwise you’re terrorizing animals you make them suffer everyday and scream for their lives because you’re not vegan and you’re paying for their suffering so my idea was for the outreachers when you have a smaller sign like this that you go to the people and that you show them you’re either on the side of the animal or you’re on the side of the oppressor like the back side is showing the animal in its exploitation which is very sad and the front side is showing the individual animal in a respectful way and also there’s nothing in between and so I think it’s a very good way to show that to people that you either exploit animals or not you’re either vegan or you’re not so which side do you want to be on? Of course I did not only design the signs for NEON protest and the website and the brand itself but I also invented the outreach guide for NEON protest all the knowledge that I gained as an outreacher and as an animal rights activist I put in here I invented the GORE magazine which has all the back sides of the sign within so when you’re on the train or whatever you can just put this in your pocket and you have it with you in case you want to veganize someone so feel free to download it and print it out for yourself and of course we also have little cards we need you and on the back side be active right now and join NEON protest which is really nice for people who want to join later or who come from other cities or who want to maybe start their own NEON protest I want to bring my power as an artist into animal rights activism why not combining this activism forum with music dark groovy and atmospheric techno because we want that the music is enhancing the ongoing violence happening to actually all those innocent animals yeah I think it’s a very good tool to use your music to use your talents to spread the message every movement needs pop culture to stay motivated and I think it’s easier to identify with a scene and a group and a topic if you see that there are actually people living it actually I did music for a long time when I was younger but then for a longer time I kind of didn’t have any motivation and not any goal that I was following with the music but then when I did more and more animal rights activism and I saw other activists also doing like art be it music dancing painting design whatnot I kind of remembered oh yes actually I was doing rap music I have to restart again a big trigger for me to be active was the time with my dog Laika and I we had this deep connection I remember her as a little puppy with her red ball running through the living room and jumped on the table on my birthday she digged her little nose in the cake yeah she went ill and we paid a lot of money for her treatment but at the same time I paid also a lot of money to harm animals just to eat their flesh and this doesn’t make any sense in my head Laika how are you today? losing her was so horrible for over 20 years the tradition of providing wholesome dog meat to local families and beyond began with our step uncle his passion for a sustainable family farm was instilled in us taste and tradition quality and friendly service is what our family has strived to offer our customers since 1981 I’m Molly Elwood I work at Elwood’s Organic Dog Meat it’s a farm where we farm meat from dogs for people we have Labradors, Rottweilers, Corgis, Chihuahuas we also have a few specialty breeds that are available we do buy the whole and the half animal you can also buy rotisserie picnic breeds that are lovely to take out for holidays we’re giving out some Elwood dog meat samples is the meat here? we are actually giving away a discount for people to go online so if you go to Elwood’s Organic Dog Meat we are giving away 20% people don’t really eat dog in this country do they? well it’s a cultural thing so a lot of people will eat dogs in other countries but not as much here so we’re trying to start it up here because we’re like well what’s the difference between eating dogs, pigs, cows, chickens or turkeys? we raise these dogs with the highest quality of standard we love them, we name them, we pet them and then they just have one bad day but dogs are more like companions they’ve been human companions for hundreds of years the thing is as former cattle ranchers we could never eat there was a couple of cows we really got fond of so we couldn’t eat them because we named them if you name them you can’t eat them but if you don’t name them you can eat them I kind of want to be a vegetarian now that’s really good because we’re actually vegan and when you go to the website everything looks real and you’re wondering if it’s a problem, no it’s not because it’s a problem website it says if this is bothering you perhaps maybe we should think about the way we treat all animals that end up on our plates so your wholesome posts about your family’s beloved farm have reached and infuriated millions thank you what role does satire or dark humor play in building empathy, especially when the topic is as serious as animal exploitation. I don’t know if you know this, but nobody wants to hear from vegans. We don’t want to change, and they definitely don’t want to look at a video of a macerator.

I don’t know what that, so I use satires like this Trojan horse, so that way we can get people engaged with veganism and not even realize they’re engaging with it. Let’s get them hooked at the beginning before they go, oh shit, right? Can I give you a coupon? Thank you. Meat from dogs for people, the same way the cows are raised for it, right? But what’s the ethical standards? What’s the difference between a cow and a dog? Been doing this since 1981.

Our family farm is right outside of Toronto. We’ve been doing it since the 80s. Does time make it okay? You’re supporting it.

What’s the difference? Another thing about satire is it allows people to be exposed to these ideas without feeling attacked. Because also, I don’t know if you know, but meat eaters are very sensitive. So satire delivers hard truth in a very soft way.

You know what I’m thinking? What? I only eat a little bit of meat, and the animals are only a little bit dead. Okay, I get your point, but vegan diets kill more animals than non-vegan diets because of crop fields. How did you know? What do you think animals that are raised for food eat? Air? I don’t know.

No, not just air, crops as well. And it takes more crops to create animal products than it takes to create crops that can be directly consumed by humans. And? And so if you care about reducing crop deaths, you would still go vegan.

Okay, but like, what about monocropping? What about it? Yeah. What? Can you explain it to me or something? No. Why did you even bring that up? Okay, but eating meat is part of culture.

Cannibalism and slavery have all been part of culture. Do you think these things are all justified because they’re a part of a culture? Okay, no, but why do you always have to bring up being vegan? You literally brought this up. What are you talking about? Okay, but eating meat is, yes, a personal choice, which not so personally includes billions of other beings who need to be exploited and murdered to be turned into food.

Okay, what about the food chain? What about it? Humans are at the top, so we get to mass farm animals. So if a hypothetical species co-evolved alongside humans and they were the dominant species, would you accept being enslaved by them for food because of the food chain? No, you wouldn’t. Next.

Even like non-vegans in my family were like, you know, this is like one of your funniest videos, but they were like, you’re really showcasing just how absurd the arguments are. So I think it was probably my best attempt at doing what I’m always trying to do, which is like comedically and logically show that like anti-veganism is just like absurd. And I can make a video in three minutes and reach 10 million people, for example.

Whereas before I would spend so many days on a 30 minute video that’s super resource-based, but because of the way that people are just digesting media nowadays, like this, sitting on a toilet, even, you need to adapt to the way that media consumption is currently happening. And both of my types of videos work fundamentally. The first one is responding to viral stuff or copying or adapting viral formats.

And then this way you’ll always be doing well. Okay. And then we’ve got to find a balance between the, you know, boring behavior change stuff, which works, but doesn’t reach as many people because it’s not exciting.

And the super exciting, crazy stuff, which reaches more people, but could potentially be turning mass amounts of people away from changing. There’s got to be something in the middle that simultaneously entertains and makes people want to share it and comment and gets all of the attention. But that also has that strategic behavior change stuff baked into it.

It’s stepping into a more sort of professional advocacy, let’s say where you’re actually trying to reach a million people. It’s daunting. My first Christmas work dinner, I was sandwiched between two people eating a fancy dish with the body of a slaughtered duck in it.

And the person next to me remembered that I’m a vegan. And at one point she said, oh yeah, you’re a vegan, right? Sorry. I replied, don’t apologize to me, apologize to the duck.

They’re the victim here. Yeah, it was a bit awkward after that, but I mean, is it wrong? There’s a saying, it’s like, with soldiers in the trenches. And it’s kind of like, you know, you stick your head up, you get shot.

If you keep your head down, you don’t get shot. Whereas all the vegans who don’t put their heads up, they don’t get shot at as much. So it is, of course it’s scary.

My death threats do really well. I like sharing my death threats or my screenshots of the emails that I get of people threatening the farm and being able to respond to those and say, these people seem very upset by what happens on our farm, despite the fact that we do everything the same way as every other family farm. I can’t understand what their problem is.

Did you want to try some dog meat? No, what are you doing? This is my farm you’re mocking. Molly Elwood? Oh my God, it’s really Molly. You’re trying to make people go vegan? You’re going to see me in court because you’re being sued.

Seymour Loudermilk is my attorney and he’s going to be reaching out to you and you’re being sued for defamation. Oh my God. Good luck.

So wait, we’re getting sued for just making people think about their food choices on the street? Are you kidding? You actually kill dogs and eat them? They’re delicious. Are you fucking nuts? People are going to torture you, right? And I’m sorry if this is going to put people off, but you need to be prepared for this. You’re going to be tortured by people.

You’re going to need to block so many people. You need to build a community. You need to talk to other creators.

You need to ask how they’re dealing with it. But you’re only going to get better if you keep filming, posting, filming, posting, filming, posting. You’ve got to get going.

But if you have a group, you have a community, you can hit the ground so much better and you’ll hit the ground running so much faster than you would if you did it alone. Thank you so much. You can go home now.

I was filming those interviews in Los Angeles when David Rams told me that there is a very special activist I could be interested in visiting. And when I learned about him, I immediately jumped in a rented car for the first time in my life and went straight to him. Can you still see me like this? He said yes.

Ah, OK. This is yes. OK.

What made you vegan? Watching Dominion mainly opened my eyes to a world I never realized I was participating in. Such evil exists. I’m shocked daily that people can watch and still eat animals, especially when they’re hungry.

This is actually my family, but I am rambling off topic here. How did you become active? After I became vegan, I wanted to do something, anything, to help move the needle closer to a vegan world. I did the Cube of Truth and started sharing immediately with my friends and family.

I lost many followers, but I still share. It’s a fine balance of how honest I can be without losing my followers and friends. It’s frustrating, but I am new to activism and I have a lot to learn.

I’m looking forward to seeing your documentary. At what point or why you realized, how you realized the role of the Internet? Well, I was very successful with raising awareness for ALS. With one video, I raised $4 million for research and 20 million views.

So this made me realize how the Internet could help the cause like the Ice Bucket Challenge helped ALS. Veganism needs an Ice Bucket Challenge moment. I try in different ways to help, but I am severely disabled so I have to get creative like use AI instead of a camera.

This is my friend Anthony. He’s a vegan, he’s an animal advocate and he’s also paralyzed. He’s got a really important, heartwarming, wholesome message that he wants to share with everyone today.

Go vegan mother****** David encouraged me to open a second account. I want to do more for the animals and I feel like I was limited with my personal account. I will still post on both just more often on the other account named Vegan Hawking.

I love the name. Was it your idea? What would you tell people who say being vegan is hard? Being vegan is actually very easy. It’s not hard.

I suffer from my disease, but animals suffer far worse. Someone who says veganism is hard either hasn’t seen enough documentaries or doesn’t have the heart. Anthony gave me hope and you know I always asked activists what keeps you going? So when someone is asking me how do I keep up continuing my work for the animals speaking to so many people and being so patient with them so I would say it’s the belief that humans are not inherently evil that I believe that people are really truly against the abuse and murder of animals and they just have to wake up so basically I focus on the people who are reachable so when I realize that people are actually willing to change I take that as a motivation to keep on going even if I don’t believe that I will see a vegan world during my lifetime that won’t stop me to fight for the animals Look, there are still so many injustices, homophobic, sexism racism but we still fight against it or would it stop you to fight for justice? I think we need to trojan horse animal rights in people choose to be naive because they don’t want to change their behavior we need a diverse community of activists tackling it at every angle the world will be vegan it’s just a matter of when not if I think what really keeps me going isn’t just the change I see in non-vegans it’s actually more the change I see in vegans I think through my activism I’ve very much normalized speaking about this topic and it’s probably less awkward for people and they can see that it is possible to speak openly and honestly about the animal holocaust and I think as long as I can keep inspiring people to do that and I can keep normalizing open discussion I don’t see a reason to quit Margaret Mead once said this never doubt that a small group of determined people can change the world indeed it’s the only thing that ever has Martin Luther King Nelson Mandela Malcolm X, Gandhi, Cesar Chavez Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass Harriet Tubman and these are all these were all one if you look into the past and you see people who run against a regime that’s violent those people were always fought against and now we say wow heroes you can make a difference all the people that tell me look what I did I changed the world I’m one person of course you can change the world as long as you speak up you can’t change the world if you don’t speak up though and get active but if you get out there and start speaking you never know how many people you can reach don’t think that you need a bunch of people behind you I get it, it would be nice to have an army behind you when you’re preaching most of the time you’re not going to have the army behind you so there is power in one person don’t let anybody tell you otherwise and people will always try to bring you down ah what are you doing ah you can’t accomplish that ah you can’t do this people will always try to bring you down because misery loves company and most people are miserable and they want you to be miserable with them get on out there, stand up speak out, do something do anything just don’t do nothing like from a business point of view I have pretty much franchised my enterprise to another country I think I can do that but in another country to pass this on how to reach people online how to leverage the time that they’re spending in their own authentic way if there are fit boys we need fit vegan abolitionist men showing that you can have muscle and be an ethical vegan if there are cooks teach them how to leverage that ethically how to provide great content that’s engaging, motivating looks delicious and has the ethical message in we can reach all these niches I want to make more of these activism CEOs in different languages all around the world this is how we can reach hundreds of thousands if not hundreds of millions people in that region, in that language I’ve proven that to myself I’m very proud of myself I’ve done the same thing 3 times now and now working with 2 other ones who are actually sticking to it and who have seen improvements in their viewership a 10th fold and that is not an exaggeration that’s where we can get people with the experiences and skills that we have harbored in the last 3 years after nearly 3 years of filming this movie I actually learned from the activist how to start my own animal rights channel in a language that I accidentally speak because I was born in Kazakhstan in a mixed Russian speaking family and my videos went insanely viral only after a couple of months and first there was a lot of hate but very soon they actually started to discuss veganism and hey we need more languages my videos are entertaining and educational but my reposts that they inevitably get in their feed show the harsh truth about the industry but also how easy it is today to go vegan so whatever interests you have in life you can always combine them with the animal rights message and go viral for the animals
