Why was there virtually NO mainstream media coverage of massive animal rights marches this past labor day weekend in New York City, Los Angeles and London, marches with thousands of people? Their Turn‘s Donny Moss talks to JaneUnChained.com‘s Jane Velez-Mitchell about why mainstream media is ignoring the animal rights movement’s massive growth! Thank you Jane. I deeply appreciate that you raised this issue. I want to mention that I’m one of the organizers of The Official Animal Rights March in NYC and it was not a lack of reaching out to the media. I personally e-mailed press releases and phoned local media a week in advance and the day off — they just didn’t show with the exception as Donny mentioned of NY1 which have always come through and been fair.
It’s very disappointing to be disregarded at a time when people are changing but I’m hopeful that opinions will shift and the media will be forced to take note and give the animal rights movement the spotlight it deserves.
Coming from a 28 year career in NYC advertising, Jane is 100% right as to why the mainstream media is not covering this issue. Hopefully with more pressure and continued loud voices they will be unable to ignore it.
