Actress, model, and animal advocate Nina Bergman is known for her commitment to fitness, wellness, and plant-based living. On a recent episode of New Day New Chef, co-host Bergman shared one of her favorite daily habits: a nutrient-packed Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie that has become a regular part of her wellness routine.

Featured during the show’s popular Challenge the Host segment, the smoothie combines wild blueberries, banana, cilantro, dulse, spirulina, barley grass powder, and coconut water into a vibrant purple blend. While the ingredient list may look unconventional to some viewers, Bergman explains that it’s a drink she enjoys regularly and believes contributes to her overall well-being.

A Wellness Routine Fueled by Plants

Throughout her career, Bergman has been an outspoken advocate for plant-based living, animal protection, and healthy lifestyle choices. Her appearance on New Day New Chef offered viewers a glimpse into some of the habits that help fuel her active lifestyle.

The Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie reflects many of the principles Bergman embraces, combining fruits, greens, and nutrient-dense plant foods into a single easy-to-make drink. Frozen wild blueberries provide natural sweetness and antioxidants, while bananas create a creamy texture that balances the earthier ingredients.

Inside Nina’s Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie

The smoothie features several ingredients popular in the wellness community, including spirulina, barley grass powder, cilantro, and dulse. Combined with frozen fruit and coconut water, they create a drink that is refreshing, filling, and packed with plant-powered ingredients.

Wild blueberries give the smoothie its deep purple color and bright berry flavor, while spirulina and barley grass powder contribute concentrated plant-based nutrition. Fresh cilantro and dulse add additional variety to the blend, creating a smoothie that stands apart from the typical fruit-only recipe.

During the episode, Bergman shares her smoothie while fitness-focused chef Wendy Worthington prepares her colorful Spread the Love Stir-Fry. Together, the recipes reinforce the episode’s focus on strength, energy, and fueling the body with nutrient-dense plant foods.
