Hollywood, California, January 1st, 2024 – To borrow from Charles Dickens, “It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.” While so many groundbreaking new vegan products are hitting the market, the number of animals being killed for food is still on the rise. What can we do to stop it? If we only had the answer. We throw so much against the wall to see what sticks. Here at UnchainedTV we offer more than 1,500 videos, hoping that every documentary, vegan cooking show, interview show or live news event will touch someone – hopefully lots of people. We’re happy to report that UnchainedTV is growing fast and reaching more people for longer stretches!

Over 250-Thousand Minutes Viewed on Unchained TV This December!

One Great Vegan
One Great Vegan, the chef who sings!

UnchainedTV has been growing month over month with more people watching for longer periods. Remember, a view can be 3 seconds. So, the amount of time viewed is the real barometer, and it’s what the streaming giants also use to determine the success of a film. A quarter of a million minutes viewed amounts to a substantial number of people spending a substantial amount of time absorbing vegan content. That’s how change is made as over a third of people report going vegan as the result of watching a documentary. Social media is great and UnchainedTV is super active on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, TikTok, etc. But, long-form content is where people get saturated with enough information to achieve that light bulb moment that triggers the switch to a compassionate lifestyle.

How to Move the Needle in 2024

UnchainedTV has a ton of exciting new shows set to hit in 2024. Some involve pretty big celebrities. Look for it! More to come soon. As we aggregate and disseminate vegan content, it gives us a nice overview of the movement and the game-changing developments. Given that the vast majority of the more than 80 billion animals who are slaughtered for food yearly are chickens, it stands to reason that a crucial piece of the puzzle involves eliminating and replacing chicken meat and eggs. If you’re wondering how eggs contribute to the mass killing of animals, know that – with few exceptions – male chicks, for which the egg industry has no use, are ground up alive shortly after birth in monstrous contraptions called macerators.

So…. could the biggest game changer of all be Eat Just, the company led by Josh Tetrick? After all, he’s developed a plant-based egg called Just Egg that’s widely available and a cell-cultivated chicken marketed as Good Meat. The cultivated chicken is now being served at just two restaurants, one in Singapore, the other in Washington D.C. Hopefully, the product will scale and go global in the next few years. Check out our interview with Tetrick, conducted by UnchainedTV’s new food writer Julieta Cardenas.

  The Clock Is Ticking

As the vegan community struggles to wake up the world to the plant-based solution to climate change, habitat destruction, wildlife extinction, human world hunger, preventable lifestyle diseases, pandemics, water pollution, drought, ocean dead zones and climate related migration, many are painfully aware that the clock is ticking. Planetary boundaries are on the verge of being shattered. UnchainedTV’s award-winning Original Documentary, Countdown to Year Zero, makes the case that – unless there is a global shift to a plant-based diet within a couple of years – we could hit the planetary point of no return. So, two suggestions from the UnchainedTV peanut gallery to vegans everywhere: 1. stop infighting. If you find a position or action not to your liking, agree to disagree and move on. Don’t wage war with fellow vegans on social media or anywhere. 2. Get active. Veganism is lots of fun but it’s more than a social club. It’s a movement. Volunteer, march, demonstrate, gather petitions, join organizations. To that end, UnchainedTV is mostly volunteer run. Let us know (Kat.UnchainedTV@yahoo.com) if you would like to get involved and volunteer. We’ll put you to work right away. And, you can also become a monthly donor. For the price of a cup of coffee a month, you can help save the world.
