Blender dance? Smoothie madness? LunchBreakLIVE surprise! Watch and learn more today with these two straight-edge performers Mike Fandetti, musician, 6-year vegan, and long-distance runner prepping to run the LA Marathon, along with our incredible taste-tester Bill Muir, vegan combat veteran, public speaker, and registered nurse while they enjoy power smoothies! And there’s a surprise performance in store for you!
Mike explains he transitioned to veganism about 6 years ago when one of his friends suggested he try it. He was already interested in fitness and he wanted to be in optimal health so he agreed to check it out. That friend sent him a video to watch called Gary Yourofsky’s “The Most Important Speech You Will Ever Hear.” That speech alone influenced Mike to go vegan overnight! He was also influenced by popular social media accounts at the time, like Freelee the BananaGirl. Now, Mike is a super healthy and incredibly fit vegan leading by example for other people to follow as he trains for The LA Marathon on March 8th!
This multi-talented man is also a musician, who gives private lessons and teaches at a music school in Burbank called Guitar Ninjas. On top of everything else, Mike is in three amazing music groups: S4X (saxophone quartet), Full Clip (Latin band) and Slow Motion Celebrity (pop-punk)! If only we were all blessed with so much talent!
Mike starts the smoothie madness by making us a dream orange creamsicle smoothie that has just a few ingredients. First, he adds frozen bananas, which he keeps the peel on to avoid using excess plastic. He thaws them just enough to peel by soaking them in hot water for a minute. Then he adds cold-pressed orange juice, vanilla extract, and creamy oat milk. Jane tries it and says that it’s one of the best smoothies that she has ever had in her entire life!
Next, Mike makes a smoothie that he calls the Sgt. Vegan which he explains is almost like a meal replacement. He adds frozen bananas and Orgain protein powder to start. Then he adds the best part about this morning booster smoothie, the caffeine boosting coffee. So if you’re in a hurry, don’t worry… Drink your coffee in your smoothie! Why not?! Sgt. Vegan is also wearing the perfect shirt to represent the smoothie inspired by him. “Strength, Stamina, Caffeine.” Hilarious!
If you like to drink your greens in the morning, Mike has you covered with this next smoothie! This smoothie is jam-packed with nutrients thanks to spirulina. Mike explains there is a lot of protein and iron in the spirulina. Kim Delgado “Queen” tries this smoothie and says it’s the best of them all!
The final smoothie in the line up is a brain-boosting blueberry smoothie. The blueberries have mega antioxidants, sure to help boost your processing power! Mike adds chia seeds and fresh avocado, which fill this smoothie with lots of omega 3 fatty acids to help you shoot to the top of the class. Bring out your inner Einstein by making this and all of these other special smoothies at home with Mike’s recipes below! Perhaps he’ll come to serenade you with his saxophone while you enjoy them!
