SO HOW DO YOU MAKE VEGAN QUESO FROM OATS ANYWAY?
Oat Queso is plant-based queso that everyone can eat. The main ingredient is rolled oats, and if you use gluten-free oats this dish is gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, and oil-free! Who would have ever thought you can make nacho cheese out of oats! And it looks so creamy and delicious. You can now have vegan queso without the guilt because this recipe is made without all the fat normal queso is made with.
Vegan Oat Queso
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
- ½ cup nutritional yeast
- ½ teaspoon organic cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon jalapeno powder optional but it makes it really good!
- ½ teaspoon salt or salt substitute
- ÂĽ teaspoon onion powder
- ÂĽ teaspoon lactic acid
- Pinch dry mustard powder
Instructions
- Blender Cooking Method:
- Blend all ingredients until smooth. If you have a high speed blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec continue blending until thick - listening for the sound to change as a sign it’s thick.
- Stovetop Cooking Method:
- Don’t have a fancy blender? After it’s smooth, pour into a saucepan, cook over medium heat, whisking until it thickens.
