Superstar Athletes highlighting the vegan food craze. Power athlete couple, Griff Whalen and Madi Serpico Whalen, teach host Antoinette Westcott how to make a Vegan Sushi Bowl on One Veggie At A Time.
These two are amazing athletes! Griff is a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) and he has played with several teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots, and Baltimore Ravens over the past 7 years. He is currently playing for the Oakland Raiders. Madi competes in triathalons where she swims, bikes, and races. She hopes to be able to run 10-hour triathlons like Iron Man in the future thanks to her extensive training. These two are the definition of power vegan athlete couple!
Madi explains that the secret to perfect rice is using sushi rice and cooking it in a rice cooker. Griff explains that adding vinegar to the cooked rice counters the negative effects of the starch in the rice. This sushi bowl is packed with plant goodness too. The Whalens add cucumbers, avocados, sweet potatoes, green onions, and mangos. They also add sheets of dried nori, which they explain has been shown to reduce a woman’s risk of breast cancer. It is just the type of fuel you should eat to optimize your body’s performance! Become amazing athletes like Madi and Griff by making your own sushi bowl using the ingredient list below!
