Plant-based bacon is perfect for sandwiches, salads, breakfast and more. With only 3 ingredients it basically makes itself!
Today Elysabeth added it to half of a lettuce, tomato and avocado sandwich as a healthy pre-dinner snack. Adding avocados to the traditional bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich is good because avocados have a lot of fiber in them, which you absolutely need in a healthy diet. Fiber pulls cholesterol from your system and meat, in fact, has no fiber.
8 or 9 oz of Soft-Medium Tofu (3/5 of a container, drained)
3 TBSP Sesame Oil
3 TBSP Bragg’s Amino Acids
In a small baking pan meant for a toaster over or in large bowl with a flat bottom, combine Sesame Oil and Bragg’s. Stir. Slice tofu thinly, into 8-9 slices. Lay in the tofu to the liquid, continually pouring excess liquid on top. All tofue should be cover in liquid. Let sit for 30 minutes.
Place pan in toaster oven on 300 and bake for 30 minutes. All toaster ovens are a bit different, so watch at around 25 minutes that it isn’t burning unless you like it super crispy. While you are waiting for your bacon to bake it is a great time to prepare the sandwich or salad that will go along with your bacon.

Tofu is the main ingredient in this bacon recipe and it is so healthy for you. It comes from soybeans and gives you non-essential amino acids and complete protein. Tofu is also great to use in this recipe because you can easily cut it up into very thin slices for the look of traditional bacon, or you can cut it up into small pieces to make bacon bits for salads or even crunchy bacon chips.
Here is what the bacon looks like when it’s done! They really crisp up in the oven, to the point where you could even make bacon chips if you wanted.
This is a perfect recipe if you like your bacon crispy and crunchy.
