Super Salad, Fast Food Style!
A Super Salad Made So Fast You Can Call It Fast Food!
Let’s make a SUPER SALAD with VeggiDome’s founder Duncan J Burns, entrepreneur, and creator of the countertop vegetable container, making a delicious salad with veggies from a 6-day challenge! This was hosted by Vanessa Marsot, creator of Ellora Wellness Global.
The ingredients used in today’s recipe was stored in the VeggiDome for 6 days and stayed crisp the entire time. Duncan compared them to veggies he’d left in the fridge for the same time, which were sad and droopy. He combined lettuce, radishes, carrots, parsley, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cucumbers, and a pear. He topped it all off with a delectable-sounding dressing of orange and ginger, and had a fresh scrumptious meal in minutes! But wait, there’s more! Not only can you have this as a salad, but you can also top it off with some quinoa cooked with vegetables, and smothered in a Tikka Masala vegan dressing. The combinations are infinite! There’s also no waste here, as the water used to cook the veggies and quinoa is simply mixed in with the whole dish.
Duncan stores all his produce in the VeggiDome, a design he created, to ripen produce faster and preserve them longer. It’s a 2 for one invention! The best part is that keeping this beautiful glass dome on the table is a reminder to grab healthy snacks when hungry. Veggies are the true fast food!
Super Salad And VeggiDome Creator.
When Duncan was a teenager, he and his brother built a small walk-in greenhouse in his backyard. It was made from doors and windows of a local greenhouse that was being torn down. The inside felt tropical, especially when he sprayed water in it on summer days. In this shed, aerial plants, tropical orchids, and ferns lived “in the air” on wood branches, he wired them to. Duncan learned from these orchids that plants can drink water and nutrients from the air, through their leaves.
Fast forward to 30 years later, he wondered how he could keep fresh snacks on the table for his kids. He imagined what it would be like to make a greenhouse with glass dishes and bowls. That began the invention of the VeggiDome. It turned out to be not quite so simple as water in a glass bowl. It needed the convenience of a cookie jar, but vegetables have moisture. How much water do you need? Can kids reach in for snacks, and not wreck the display?
Remarkably, he found a combination of shapes to create a point of balance of nature for the plant-based food, right on the table. Vegetables could be easily prepped and put in. The Balance came from NOT adding water but letting only the moisture from the veggies fill the Dome. It is the perfect creation for keeping veggies crisp, fresh, and conveniently located on the kitchen counter.
