The Dragon Fruit Plant And What To Do With It.

Make a healthy smoothie!  The dragon fruit plant is a beautiful fruit, but I never had any idea what to do with them, until now.  On this episode of #LunchBreakLIVE Raw Foods Chef, Author, and star of Elegantly Raw on #JaneUnchained every Sunday at 11 AM, Dorit joins us in the virtual Ellora Wellness kitchen to make a healing smoothie that helps remove mucus and pain from the body.

 

 

What Else To Use With The Dragon Fruit Plant.

Dorit showed nature’s bounty with gorgeous frozen Fuschia dragonfruit (or Pitaya) and mangoes for their mineral-rich sweetness, brazil nuts for their selenium–which most people are deficient in–and coconut for its luscious richness. The coconut water from the fresh coconut provides many electrolytes, perfect to replenish you on a hot day. Dorit pointed out that most illnesses, diseases, and especially cancers are accompanied by mineral deficiencies. She added no sweeteners, as the fruits provided plenty. She blended all the ingredients, then sprinkled Arconia berries on top, and spritzed the smoothie with rosewater.

She next made the Pitaya Energy Bowl with the smoothie base. To amplify the healing effects, she added a power paste of sea moss, bladderwrack, ginger, and turmeric. Those are powerful foods for fighting inflammation. The sea moss also adds some thickness. To complete the bowl, she added Arconia Berries, Golden Berries, Goji Berries, Shredded Coconut, Raw Pistachios & Kiwi on top. She’s preserving all the nutrients by keeping the bowl raw and is very quick and easy to prepare. Get a colorful powerhouse in just minutes!

It’s Still Hot Enough Outside For A Cool Smoothie!

Why not try something new in your smoothie making magic?  I usually just keep it simple with bananas, strawberries, and almond milk…but now I really feel like venturing out a bit more and trying some more exotic fruits with additional health benefits.  Plus I have always looked at the dragon fruit plant with wonder, but never knew what to do with it.  ha ha ha.  Below is the recipe for this awesome smoothie or smoothie bowl.  Give it a try!

 

Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Course Drinks

Ingredients
  

  • 8-10 Brazil Nuts
  • 4-6 large pieces of Pitaya DragonFruit cut and frozen
  • 2 large mangoes cubed & frozen
  • 2 coconuts water & meat
  • 1 cup frozen coconut cream raw

Instructions
 

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend to your preferred consistency.
  • Optional: add Arconia Berries on top & spritz with Edible Rose Water.

Notes

To make the Pitaya Energy Bowl:
Add one teaspoon of a Sea Moss, Bladderwrack, Juiced Tumeric and Dried Ginger blend.
Then place Arconia Berries, Kiwi, Golden Berries, Goji Berries, Shredded Coconut, Raw Pistachios & Kiwi on top.
