Activists Comfort “Big Cow Puppies.”
JaneUnChained LIVE at a cow slaughterhouse in the Los Angeles area. A few dozen activists bear witness in the cold dark night. Hundreds of cows await their deaths. This vigil is part of the Los Angeles Animal Save and The Save Movement, a peaceful movement to bring voices to the silenced voiceless animals! Watch!
Activists line the walls of the slaughterhouse to comfort these creatures who will be slaughtered in a few hours.A worker at this slaughterhouse once described these cows as “big cow puppies.” He said they come over and greet you just as a dog would, even licking you to show affection. Knowing these cows have the ability to receive and reciprocate affection, there is no doubt that they are truly sentient creatures. You can even see them socializing with each other and grooming each other at these vigils. The cows on this particular night were mostly grass-fed cows from Colorado and Nebraska. They were very curious about the activists who came to “bear witness” to their suffering and share their experience with others. Many times the cows who are destined for death at this slaughterhouse are dairy cows that are no longer able to produce enough milk to be profitable. You can see their completely engorged utters and they are often unable to walk due to the pain.
These cows are part of a worldwide agricultural industry that is destroying everything we know in existence. They are a tiny percentage of billions of animals that are killed every year at the hands of this industry. The enslavement, torture, and death of these creatures contribute to the most environmental harm amongst all other factors. We know they are innocent, sentient creatures, but when we buy their flesh we pay for their demise and ultimately our own. Choose a better life for these creatures with every dollar that you spend. Choose to buy plant-based alternatives and you choose life for these cows and life for every other being on this planet. We are running out of time. So please let your decisions be our saving grace.
