What The Heck Is Ube!
Ube is a purple sweet potato from Southeast Asia and is popular in a lot of Filipino dishes. On the island of Oahu, they are eaten plain or used to make all kinds of sweets! From donuts to pancakes to coffees to ice cream, Ube is a great treat to indulge in on the islands!
The flavor is hard to describe. It’s been described as mild and nutty, like vanilla or white chocolate. It’s kind of fun that the flavor is hard to describe, which makes it a bit more subjective. Thanks to Tonia, you can now bring a bit of Hawaii to your kitchen, no matter where you live, in a simple, fun, and healthy way.
Hawaiian Style UBE Smoothie!
- 8-10 ounces of plant based milk
- 4 ice cubes
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 serving of your favorite plant-based vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 tsp. Ube flavoring
- Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
